Heyo.
Hope the weekend is going well.
For today, I’m think it might be fun to play the nickname game with U.S. State’s. How many do you think you can name? (Don’t sweat it, gang; we’re not ‘gonna do all of them – at least not yet!)
What I would like to do, though, is celebrate the 28th State. (Yeah, I’m thinking today’s related pic probably spoiled the surprise, but what do you say we give it a go anyway?)
So, while I can’t say I’ve researched all 50, with the exception of California, it’s a pretty good bet that Texas is right in there.
Expressions like “Don’t Mess with Texas” and “Go big or go home,” represent the state’s largess and ambition, while images of Cowboys both at the rodeo and on the gridiron remind us of things we may well see as uniquely Texas centric.
And additional nicknames showcase unique Texas cities that might include: “The Space City” (Houston) “Alamo City” (San Antonio) and, of course, “Funky Town” (Fort Worth).
And to round out our brief Lone Star State lesson, Bonanza stalwart the late Dan Blocker, was born in De Kalb, Texas, in 1928.
I know it’s cliche, but you could look it up. (-:
See you guys tomorrow for the start of Thanksgiving week.
