Up Around the Bend

Like Sonny and Cher told us all those years ago, “The beat goes on.”

And lucky for us, that’s generally true.

So, if I haven’t said/implied it enough over these past several weeks, I commend all of you for hanging in there and remaining positive throughout all this uncertainty.

It’s weird, isn’t it? No matter how cliche it is – and continues to be – we keep at it; we keep going. That’s just what we do.

With that in mind, and for today, let’s just go. Yeah, let’s get in the car and go.

In fact, let’s double up today’s ‘sixes and head out to Chicago. And depending on where you are on the map – wherever you’re located at this moment – plan to motor west from there.
Route 66 awaits.

The funny thing about Route 66 and the song that accompanies it is, well, it’s really
quite accurate. And at a time when I imagine that most of us are plain ‘jonesing to travel, to simply enjoy the freedom of just going ANYWHERE, let’s dedicate the six days that remain to all the places we plan to see.

And in doing so, let’s celebrate all those people we will meet along the way.

Well, if you ever plan to motor west,
Take my way, it’s the highway that’s the best.
Get your kicks on Route 66.

Well, it winds from Chicago to LA,
More than two thousand miles all the way.
Get your kicks on Route 66.

Well, it goes through St. Louis,
Down in Missouri,
Oklahoma City looks oh so pretty.

You’ll see Amarillo,
Gallup, New Mexico,
Flagstaff, Arizona,
Don’t forget Wynonna,
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino.

Start to make your plans, my friends. One day soon.
