Welcome to Winter Solstice Countdown, 2020!

Hello to all!
And welcome to/welcome back to my blog.
For those of you who don’t know me personally, please feel free to read my brief bio, located on the main web page.

And for those who do know me, my sincere apologies? (I’m kidding; or, at least, that’s my hope!)
In any event, I hope you all will find some mild enjoyment in the musings you read here.

For starters, how about a quick backstory on the Solstice Countdown?
Way back when, around Halloween, maybe, I suspect that I must have started bitching about how early the sun was going down. And this part I really remember:  My dad, who clearly was thinking along the same lines (yep, re: bitching about how it was suddenly getting dark by 5pm!), decided to intervene.
“Don’t sweat it for too long. Come 21 December, it’s a whole
new ballgame.”
I didn’t give it much thought at the time, but now that some 40 years have passed, I ‘gotta admit I pretty much set my watch by it.
So here’s the deal: Starting on Saturday, 21 November, 2020 – and every day through Monday, 21 December, 2020 – I will post something resembling a daily countdown, until we arrive at the shortest day of the year (in terms of daylight).
So, call it what you want – whatever you want: A countdown to a little more light, a flip of the script, the beginning of your/our march toward the end of what has been a challenging calendar year. Again, call it want you want; Jesus, you owe yourself. And having something to look forward to can often be a pretty good thing.

I will do my best to make this a true “soup to nuts” kind of showcase. And during that time block, I’ll try to find something of potential interest on a daily basis. (And if you’re so inclined, maybe even partial to this kind of stuff, please send me any musings of your own. Just email it to me
through the site. Would love to hear from you on this and anything else you feel like discussing, celebrating, even venting about. For all of those things, this ‘be the place!)

So, please visit Www.JohnLFish.com as often as you like, especially over the next 30 days. I’ll do everything I can to post something new every single day. (And as above, if you have any ideas you want to share, I will really look forward to that.)

For now, though, please join me in celebrating the home stretch of the year. And just for laughs, why not allow yourself to think ahead a little – how about to that first perfect spring day in the not-so-distant future?

Promise that we will eventually get there. And our journey starts now.
